Is there a way to connect my PS2 to my computer's monitor? My tv broke. I don't want to go thru the computer, just directly from the PS2 to the monitor.

not too sure about that one, most monitors do not have left audio, right audio, and video inputs. Plus without the cord being pluged into the computer you wouldn't get a picture at all.

yes there is a way to connect your ps2 to a monitor but it is expensive it is called a av-audio to vga converter they sell them at www.lik-sang.com but they are around 100.00 and 60.00 for shipping so you may just want to go to your local thrift store and buy a cheap tv

A friend of mine made his own converter cable so he could play his xbox on his computer moniter. He used a monitor cable and the video cable and kinda connected them. He put about 4 hours into it and it took a lot of precision soldering. It only cost a few dollars and i know there is a website that tells you how to make the converter cable. My advice would be to check around on the internet if you really into making one.

Buy a tv-card. Hauppage are very good and reasonable in price. It doesn't need to be expensive, you only need to be sure it has an s-video input (for the yellow cable of the ps2, the input is yellow too so it's easy). For the audio you can buy a converter to make those two audio (one red, one white) into a stereo-jack, like this one: http://www.hama.de/portal/articleId*23623/picType*abb/action*2599...

All by all you'll spend 60? (45$?) and you'll also be able to watch and record tv on your desktop. But a new tv isn't a bad idea :-)

TV cards (usually)lag like a b*tch when you play ps2 games through them... i wouldn't recommend that option...

I've only tried out Final Fantasy X on it and it works real smooth. It could be that FF is not a demanding game, or maybe your hardware is not up for it ;-) I'll try out Need for Speed Underground, Burnout or something like that later on, that should be a good test, no?

Video capture cards don't give a f*&@ what signal they're looking at, whether a TV signal, VCR, PS2 or just static.

What matters is how good they are and what resolution they're set to read/display the signal at. You also need a decent enough computer.

I've run mine at full NTSC input resolution and dislayed at 1024x768 @ 32-bit color depth, plus interpolation. This was on a Medion Titanium MD 1110 or something. Basically a standard 2.66 GHz Pentium 4M, 256MB DDR at that time, with a GeForce 4 4200 titanium edition

EDIT: That also ran at the full NTSC frame rate of ~30 FPS and displayed on the monitor at 76Hz refresh rate at the resolution/color depth above
