I need the best PS2 Mod Chip for playing backup Games. By best I mean 1) Does it do what it is supposed to do well.
2) How easy is it to use and install.
3) Price

I have read about Disk Magic with the swipe card and was wondering if this was the best way to go. I;m not really worried about voiding my warranty but i wan't something that is easy to use.

Remember... If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off.

hey i have the dms 4 pro chip but i did not install it i got the ps2 premoded with the chip . it is a great chip and i would recomend the chip becaue new games are comming out with dual layer disks and alot of the other chips can play thoes game but the dms4 pro chip can pluse u can up date the chip to make sure you will be the most up to date for playing back ups ... but i had just seen a few weeks ago that u can buy a solder less dms 4 pro chip but u cant use it if your ps2 is a slim so if it ant a slim then u can use it and u wont have to take the rist of soldering on the mother board.

Here is a list of good chips...

1) Duo2se
2) Matrix Infinity
3) DMS4 Pro or Lite
4) Crystal Chip

To answer your questions..

1) Yes, those chips work very well.
2) It is somewhat difficult to install, but if you are an experienced solderer then you will not have a problem.
3) Duo2se $20 Matrix Inf. $50 DMS4 Pro $55 Lite $50 Crystal Chip $40

If you have a slimline ps2, then you will have to solder another piece on that protects the laser from going out. If you do not have the soldering skills, then check out this site to get a prof. chip install done cheap! http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/

Going w/ a chip is the best and most convenient way to go. Because when using swap magic you have to swap discs all the time, and crank out the cd tray w/ a slide tool (unless you have a fliptop case). With a chip you can just put in your bunred game and it boots up instantly.

Well let's see, I've got a $20 Duo2se modchip in my Ps2, and I can play any backup/import game I want on my $.20 memorex dvd's. But, if you want, you can go buy brand new games for $50 a piece. I guess the choice is up to you on whether it is worth it or not...

Well this is a difficult choice for many. I really wanted a modchip but the scariness of modchips freaked me out. i read countless stories of guys with a dms3 chip losing their ps2's lol. Anyway i went with the swap magic 3.6 plus with fliptop . Personally for me it is the best methos. It is quick easy and efficent , and best of all it was really cheap lol. it cost me 36 dollars for a swap magic and fliptop. well from http://www.consoleasia.com that is. after some research they are pretty cheap interms of swap magics. They got pretty fast shipping too. Ill suggest this, swap magic/fliptop if you dont want to take a risk or modchip if you want to take the risk but if the risk is avoided and you get the moded ps2 then congrats sicne it will be slightly easier to play.

ok if u want the best chip you can get.. but remember when u buy a chip you get what you pay for.... THe dms4 pro chip is a very very good chip if u dont know how to solder you can buy a solderless dms4 pro chip.. the solder less dms4 pro chip is called (DMS4 E.Z.I. Pro)
i would recomend this chip because it is one of the best chips out on the market and you dont have to solder. But the only problem with this solderless chip is only Compatible V5-V11 PS2 Consoles.
but the dms4 pro chip that u solder is compatible with the V1-V12 ps2 systems ..

both vershion of the chip are great you can play dvd 9 ps2 game like gt4 were some of the older chips would let you play dvd 9 base games cause they are dual layer dvd
