Video card issues with playback

I have recently purchased a new video card (Geforce FX5500) it was working perfectly right up untill last night when every video i played looked sort of neon and extra bright.

I dont think i installed any new software, i dont know what happened, so i uninstalled the video card drivers and tried to playback a movie, it worked, without the overbrightness and crazy colors, although a little blocky. I installed the drivers back on(latest from the website) and i have the same problem.

I know my codec setup is right, i followed the guide on this website to delete all the codecs and installed the appropriate one's i.e. ffdshow, Divx.
I dont know whats wrong, could anyone help me?
