Hi I'm a recent apple convert and want to figure out how to burn DVDs that are similar to the ones I burned on my PC. It seems like all the mac programs only offer the user the option of compressing movie only or the entire dvd. with Shrink i could customize the compression in the menu and extras sections so that they were a much lower quality and my main movie was much higher quality. can any of the macintosh programs do this? whichever one can would be the program i get. this may seem a little dumb but i really like keeping my menus on the burned dvds and low quality extras are sometimes nice. so please dont tell me to just burn movie only.

also does the program popcorn come with toast built in so i dont need to buy an extra program to burn my dvds?

thank you for your responses

popcorn has Roxio's toast burning built in so all you have to do is Rip with Mac the Ripper http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22715 and use popcorn (it compress's and burns)

But DVD2OneX is way better and the compression looks way better, and it lets you export to a disk image and you can burn in disk utility.

(Dvd2onex automaticly compresses the special features more than the main movie if you do a full disk copy)

how much of a quality difference is their in the extras and actual movie? i always put the extras on lowest quality so the actual movie has a better compression rate. if i do full movie copies in DVD2One am i gonna notice a significant drop in quality? i dont have hi definition tv or anything. im worried about the fact that now i have to pay for these programs but i will lose the customization of shrink. what about remaster? i will pay extra for the ability to have the same customization and control over my movies as in shrink. having the best quality movie while retaining the menu is my main goal.

Well there is enough compression (on the extras) to see a lot of artifacting on any tv. I think that they are compressed pretty small. THe movie looks great though.

i agree on this 100%.
i just compressed a movie from 7gb to the DVD5 - 4.7gb and it looks immaculate. i never got results like that from DVD Shrink..
