I've been wondering out of all the DVD software out there which is best? Is there one program that dose it all? One that support most media types? Media types like DVD-R,DVD-RW,DVD+R,DVD+RW,DVD RAM,DVD-R DL, and DVD+R DL? Also has the feature to change the bitsetting,# of disk, able to split up disk, compress with great quality, Clone perfectly and convert other video types?
I've tested these sofar.
CloneDVD2-Pros: I like because it's easy to use.Con: Problem buring to Dual Layer disk. States file is too big to burn onto DVD+R DL when it's not.
Nero Pros: Support most types Con: Not easy for newbies!
SwiftDic 1.64 Pros: Easy to use and fast burning.Con: Not much other than wishing it can compress and you can set the bitsetting before burning.

I'm asking because I would like to just have one program that dose it all and I can save space on my harddrive with having to have a program to cover another program lack of features. Thanks for your response members.
I've tried DVD Decrypter, and it Rocks!!!! Takes out all the copy protection and very easy to use. It can handle normal sized discs with no problem.
For DVD9 discs, combine DVD Decrypter with DVD Shrink. After you reauthor the movie (not TV Series) it should fit on a standard media with no significant compression, or you can burn to 2 discs.
I have not tried burning a DL disc (too pricey for me) so I cannot help you out there.
DVD-RAM I would assume you would have to have sometype of Panasonic Burner as only Panasonc players can read them. I am looking at my DVD Drives features and none of my drives can even read DVD-RAM.
As far as bitsetting goes, only DVD plus media can be bitset, not minus. Software should have nothing to do with that. I have a Pioneer DVR-A09XL (DVR-109 for OEM) and that automatically bitsets. I also have a Plextor PX-716A and that is bitset capable, but you have to enable it in Plextools.
DVD Media compatibility is a hardware issue. Check your drive for logos of media. Also, you can check the manuf. website for firmware updates.
For converting files, back in the day I used DVD Decrypter 2.4, DVD2AVI, and TMPGEnc. I used this to convert DVDs or AVI to mpeg, but I do not know if you can burn this to a DVD. I used it for SVCD, but I am sure you can change the Resolution settings to make it compatible with DVD Shrink.
As for the software, both I mentioned are Free (DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter), so you should definately try them. I am sure someone else will give you better better advice as I am a Newbie as well.
Again..... I'm a newbie too..... but there is a difference! I've burned with many many programs...... I've been burning for years now but since I bought a new computer I wanted to do things right so I am NEW to the forums but experienced with some programs.
what's the best? MIGHT AS WELL ASK "WHY ARE WE HERE ON EARTH!" Sorry I couldn't resist that one! Best programs..... it's a matter of preference...... Rule of thumb: when you find what works for you use it! ok...... what's the best......I can only give you what works for me and what I want to do with them! I prefer quality. So I use DVDDecryter to copy to hard drive (when that one won't work any more I will find another decrypter that does). After that I use DVDRemake.... this program allows me to take out unwanted stuff like warnings, previews, commercials,director cuts or commentary,etc., and it will even help you defeat Menu buttons when you hide all the stuff you don't want! Or you can take out the Menu altogether! Once you do that you export the movie to the hard drive (the edited version of the DVD). NOW YOU CAN CHOOSE: DVDShrink, or DVDREbuilder. I found out that DVDRebuilder keep quality better than Shrink....at least that's my opinion. Shrink works faster but Rebuilder is better! Once you use Shrink/Rebuilder then I burn with CopytoDVD. That's my choices. I found that it works the best for me ..... might take a while to copy the movie but the movie is one that you can't tell the difference from the original or the copy on a big screen HDTV (52") which sits in front of my bed!
So in closing......it's really up to you guys which is better for you or what you want to do!
But if you want to use 1ClickDVD...... be my guest..... I got, don't use it..... and years ago I used to use DVDXCopy Platium! I found out that once you have the movie to your hard drive you shouldn't have a problem backing it up to your Disk! At least that's my experience.
