I'm running a DVD-ROM and a DVD±RW on a computer that was basically built from scratch. Both worked absolutely flawlessly for quite a while.

Then I put in a (unknowingly) scratched DVD into my DVD-ROM. The DVD was so bad, apparently, that my DVD Player at the time (Nero ShowTime) completely froze. Since then the DVD player has been acting extremely sluggish. The sound is choppy and the video playback is slightly slower than usual.

A similar thing happened on the DVD±RW. What are some suggestions to get my players back up to speed. When I try to back up my DVDs, what normally was a 30 minute process of recoding has become nearly 2 hours because of the slower speeds.

If you need any other information on my computer, I'm willing to provide, just reply.
