problem is, i spent money on maxell black cd-r and none of them work on my ps2. i do have a mod-chip but they only seem to play dvd-r copies.

DUH! The ps2 only plays dvd-r! You should burn them all onto dvd-r again for it to work with ur modchip!

No hes wrong..the ps2 can play dvd-r, dvd+r, and cd-r...im not familiar with modchips, but my swapmagic has played cd-rs, dvd-rs,and dvd+rs....to play the cd-r, u have to burn a cd-r based game .cue file to it..u cannot burn an iso or dvd game on it

you have to boot your ps2 a certain way to play cd backups. put in the cd -r and hit reset so it's lit up red then hold the reset button until the ps2 screen comes up (the one with all the blocks) and release it.

i use Nero to burn my ps2 games. but why don't cd-r burned games don't work. if i burn it in cue form what cd-r can i use any type or stick with the black cd-r's. and what is the best software to use to put it in cue format

lol wow the first comemnt was ignorant. The ps2 play anything , it plays cdr, dvd+r, dvd-rm and even dvd-+rw for the new ones. So it should work but i know the older modchips only allowed dvds to work. So mabye you need an update. im using swpa amgic so you might want to try that.
