I think I've broken the PS2 cd/dvd tray...how can I fix it?

hi,

yesterday i tried to get rid of the front panel of the eject tray in order to use the slide card method. i tried to do this by having my ps2 on with the cd/dvd tray ejected, turning it sideways and undoing the screw underneath it (cause if you switch off the tray goes back in). While I was unscrewing, i may have pulled the tray a little to much out or i may have moved it a bit too much (couldn't keep steady), and I noticed the blue light on the eject button flashing (which means i may have pushed it back in a little bit as i was unsteady - this is with the screw half unscrewed) and it won't go back in).

After that I got worried so I screwed the screw back in, put the ps2 back flat, and found that the cd/dvd tray is pulled out, unable to go back in. Now everytime it tries to go back in the centre circle hole of the tray hits the round disc holder thing TOO EARLY meaning it cannot slide past it. It's like the alignment is ruined.

So then I took apart the PS2 by undoing all the screws on the back, and eventually by undoing the screw underneath the tray and moving the tray about a bit I was able to push it back in - BUT NOT ALL THE WAY IN. also, it cannot eject all the way out now - only able to eject about 2 inches and then it's locked. even when I switch the ps2 on the motor still works, but like I said it won't fully go in or eject all the way out.

I'm sure it's a case of re-aligning the tray.....anyone know how to fix this please?

any help would be most appreciated. thanks in advance!

OK If you really want to fix this here you go.DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Firts open your ps2 till you see this and unscrew all of the little screws.
Then you MUST push the tray all the way to the back.(dont worry about anything else) it will not hit anything else exept for the cd holder. Try pushing the cd holder down softly for the tray to slide with no problems. Im sure you will hear a cracking noise but dont worry. Like you said alignment is ruined Well now the cracking noise means that you are aligning it back again. Now try opening the tray with the eject button. And if it works post back.
