Hi all,
I was backing up the dvd s.w.a.t. (the tv series) using dvd shrink with decrypter, and it took almost 4 hours to copy to my hard drive. Not sure if this is normal for certain dvd's or do I have some settings way off. I do want good quality on my back-up dvd's, but if there is some way to make it faster without messing up the quality of picture, I'm willing to try.

Thanks

Go into your device manager and check both IDE controllers (primary and secondary). They should be set to DMA. If they show PIO try to change them. If they won't change, remove them both from the list, then reboot and let Windows reinstall them. That should set them to DMA again.

how fast is your CPU? I ask because I used to get up to 5 hour encode times with Shrink using a 600MHz CPU.

where exactly is my device manager located at?
Is this in decrypter or on my computer.

It is in your PC control panel. If you are using XP::: Start> Settings> Control panel> System> Hardware> Device manager.

I wouldn't of found that without your instructins.
My secondary IDE channel was set to PIO, so I changed that. I'll give it a try and see how it goes from there.

Thanks for your help.
