I've been backing up my DVD collection for over the last year and DVD x copy platinum has been working great. Lately, I have been running into errors?

When I start the application the program has no problem identifying my drives and allowing me to "advance" burn. The application starts and the status screen starts to display 0% to 100% "reading DVD".

I am than prompted to click start to begin the burn. After clicking "start" the application begins to initiate something and than spits out the blank DVD (from the dual drive) and states "ERROR WRITING DVD! Please check the log file for more information". This seems to happen randomly. For instance, I had a heck of a time copying ?Mean Girls? and had to write it to the "tdf" and by sheer luck it burned. On the contrary, the movies ?Colors?, ?Meet the Fookers?, etc. have had no problems?

However, I have not had as much luck with "Good Will Hunting" and a few other movies? I read somewhere on this forum that the newer movies have some kind of encryption that prevents recent releases from being backed up? I downloaded "ANYDVD" with some promise of deciphering the new encryption but no luck? Is there any kind of patch or new kind of DVD disc (I'm using Memorex DVD-R 8x 4.7 120) that could fix this problem. That once fixed the problem, although, I had just re-partitioned my hard drive and none of the background application (e.g. Roxio) where talking to each other - or their internet website, respectively.

Well, I would suggest downloading copies of DVD Decrypter (The Official Site was closed down, but here on AD they still offer it), and DVD Shrink. These are great programs, Decrypter is the best ripping program out. Shrink can be used to rip and burn. You do however, need a copy of Nero to burn with DVD Shrink.

I also used dvd x copy until this year when I was tired of getting errors. So I looked up burning programs and found a link to AD and discovered what I have been missing. I also recommend decrypter and shrink to start, but once you get the hang of that try dvd-rb cce. Memorex is also not to reliable just do a search on it and you will see what I mean.

I agree with furydog, I used x copy for about a year and a half, and also got sick of the errors. shrink and decrypter are the easiest to use. i dont know anything about dvd-rb cce. I also agree that memorex is not a good media to use. i personally use verbatim, but there are plenty of quality choices out there.
