Hi everyone,

I am new here... I am trying to get used to all this ripping and such. I am using VIDEO VAULT and DVD DECRYPTER. I am trying to understand the instructions that afterdawn.com lists for DVD DECRYPTER. It states that the DVD file size can't be over 4,718,592,000 bytes. When I put in my personal copy of "BE COOL," the DVD DECRYPTER program says that the DVD is 8,017,133,568 bytes.

I am assuming that I CAN'T backup this dvd?

Or is there a way that I can compress the dvd?

If it's the "special effects" and all the "extras" on the dvd that are pushing it way over the size... All I really want is to backup the movie itself.

Can anyone advise what I can do / should to to get the movie down to a useable size for DVD DECRYPTER to do its thing?

Thanks for any and all help...

:)

Download DVD Shrink from here in AfterDawn and check out the guide for it. It is pretty good. That is how I started.

Can I assume that the FILE WAS TOO BIG? Looking at it, it says that it is:

I 15:59:51 Source File Size: 4,509,448,192 bytes

I KNOW that I set the compression (I think that's what it was) to no more than 4300. I think that had something to do with "making sure the file didn't get to the edge of the DVD"...I think that's what the guide said.

Anyways... Does anyone have any ideas as to what I did wrong and / or how I can do different to make it work?

Thanks!

@Medic

try reinstallin Decrypter.

Then just leave everything at default levels and then use DVD Shrink to compress the movie further, and then use ur DVD burning software like clone DVD to put it on a blank DVD.

Shrink will compress it soo it will fit on a single layer DVD no probs.

I hope that clears it up

keep me posted...
