keeps saying movie is to long and pretty new to this is there a way i can do that and is dvd shrink good for burning or is there something better

First off DVD Shrink does not burn, this program compresses your movie so it will fit on to a 4.7g DVD disk. Use DVD Decrypter to rip your disk and DVD Shrink to compress and encode and then DVD Decrypter to burn. Guides and programs available at

if the compression is set to "automatic" the dvd will get compressed to fit (unless it's gigantic). if you're trying to compress too much from 70, 60, 50% you should be aware you could experience errors depending on your media, burner and player.
