DVDs won't play in XMS-1050

Some DVDs I burned lately won't play in my XMS-1050 player. The title page is OK; on pressing 'play' there is a couple of seconds of sound and video then the player hangs. Commercial DVDs are fine.

The mystery is that the same DVDs play just fine in an el-cheapo stand-alone DVD player and in a PS2. Any ideas?
