Now, I know there are a couple of Irish users in this forum but I wonder if anyone is as pissed as me at Irish broadband providers ESPECIALLY the satellite ones,

Just visit www.broadband.gov.ie

I live in a rural area so I type in my area and get back a whole load of satellite companies but just visit this site www.broadband4ireland.net

I mean COME ON, you are not a REAL company, your telephone isn't even manned-an answering machine costs Euro40, well done, I have one of those and yes you can leave a message.

It's a pure joke, if you don't live in urban areas you either have to pay E95+ a month and between E350-E2500 to install the damn satellite thing OR go to the UK and order off of a company there. I'm Irish not British, I should be entitled to Irish companies providing a service available in most 1st world countries

I'm not trying to badmouth everyone, esat BT, eircom, digiweb and outblink were all helpful

BUT the guy at mediasat,

I said "what penalty is there if I break my 12 month contract?"

He replies? (in a comical fashion) "Well we'll come out and take the box off of YA!!!!!Then eircom have a huge team of lawyers (nice use of American dialect dumbass) who will chase after ya!!!! (laughs) so don't break the contract!"

So what?s the clincher? Besides the fact that we have a download limit on cabled broadband, satellite broadband is ONLY 512kb/sec downloading and 128kb uploading AND at an average of E1500 for installation and E99 per month it is a disgrace.

Oh and one more thing, our friends at www.broadband4ireland.net only offer 1 way broadband, something needs to be done.

My fellow Irishmen and women this is truly unacceptable,

The urban areas have a very good service but anyone else is getting raped by the small companies who can pretty much laugh at us on the phone.

The point in this thread is to get other users opinions, does any Irish person agree with me???

Thanks
