Hi,I burned some shows on double sided discs and put labels on them. After I labeled them one side would not work anymore. Is this because of the label?does anybody have any recommendations on what labels to use for double sided dvds?

thanks!

get the labels off as it is warping your disk. 1 of the threads on this site talks about problems with paper labels & dvd's. either print on the disk with a marker or use a printer capable of printing directly onto dvd's

isn't the label on a double sided disc a tiny little circle in the center?just curious, never used double sided discs.

I have never used double sided disks, however if what kcdc30 states about the label being a tiny circle in the center then this could cause a problem. As data is recorded from the center hub to the outside, and the critical INF and BUP files are often on the inner most tracks. Manage to destroy the INF & BUP files and the DVD is now ruined. Better to use a sharpie.

thanks guys,No the labels I was using were the full sized ones not the hub labels. On double sided discs the hub area is clear.I think this is the only part to label but I am not sure. Why would they sell hub labels if the data is stored in the center?I don't understand that.

data is not stored in the center but from outside edge of hub to edge of disc

... Once again the answer is:

DON'T USE PAPER LABELS ... DON'T USE PAPER LABELS

 ... I just can't state it any clearer ...

omg this guy doesn't have any common sense

since it's double sided u're can't just cover the one side and expect to read the disc

i think sometimes common sense could help alot.

stop hoping, start loving.

I exagerated a little bit.About 23 had labels but 2 of the 23 were recorded on 1 side so they weren't effected at all.2 others did not have labels on them at all so they are good as well.

I learned my lesson.Thankfully I was not even close to being done transeferinng my VHS tapes to DVD.I have about 40 more to go.If I had finished and had 60 or so coasters, then yes I would be depressed.

... Get yourself some "Goo Gone", peel the labels off and use the Goo Gone to dissolve the stickum ... You might be able to save your discs ...

Better to try and soak them in hot water, maybe add a little dish detergent, anytime I used goo gone it left some residue and it may damage the data. As long as there are no scratches or cracks in the disk or hub were moisture can get in this may work. Personally, if it was 20 of my backups that were coaster I would commit suicide :~)

I just want you to know..... I used to make paper labels for my DVD backups....... most of them still work just fine! A few had problems with skipping near the end of the movie. After Joining AD in the beginning of June I am now enlightened with all the tips and tricks that this forum has to offer! I have more programs to choose from and I have more ways of backing up and the guides are top notch! I'm so happy that I found such an informative forum! And all the wonderful people here happy to answer the most stupidest questions ..... and very repeditive questions..... I find it a miracle that there aren't more people blowing up and having arguements with others because of the repetitive questions. Understanding that more and more people are turning here for advise and more and more Newbies have the same questions...... YOU GUYS HAVE PATIENCE OF A SAINT!
