Okay I had a modchip installed and then a 200 GB hard drive. I loaded a game onto the hard drive but in the middle of it it froze. So I shut the XBOX off and now when I try to do anything, my XBOX starts making a clicking noise and a black screen comes up with "09" error. If you need a picture just ask. The hard drive just needs to be locked I think. But it won't lock. It keeps saying "Lock Failed" when I try to lock it.

UPDATE: I got the drive locked. It doesn't make a noise any more but now whenever I try to do anything, it freezes. I think there is nothing left on my hard drive (I read somewhere from the error I was getting) could that cause this? If so, how do I get to the hard drive and delete the games I have on it?

UPDATE: Got into it and can play games and put them on my hard drive, but they freeze. And it takes forever to load stuff! What do I do?

UPDATE: It still takes a while to load some stuff, but games now load.

UPDATE: Well it's doing the same stuff again. Loading really really slow. Takes about 10 minutes for it to load Slayers.

UPDATE: Now nothing is loading.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

HI j-mac

The same thing happend to me. I hade to change my jumper setting on my hardrive. I changed it from master with slave to just Master or CS. After I took my jumper off for CS all games on the hardrive played normally. I hope this info helps out.

error code 9 means- HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug)

in other words, you have a bad HDD. This is a very uncommon problem. I do suggest to use a new hdd. Also, the hdd jumpers should be set to "Cable Select", not master or slave.

also, it should really have anything to do to the hdd locking.

One more thing. Games will freeze if they are from a scratched DVD or from a bad download. So if you have some games that play good and other that play bad you might have corrupt game data. Since you are a beginner make sure you have the program SLAYER it can format your hard drive, lock it, flash your chip, and install every program you need to load your games. It will make life easier for you. Keep us informed on your progress because we where all begginers once.
