Hi, I am a new user and this is my first post. I searched the website and read the rules but can't seem to find and answer to my questions.

I ripped various DVDs over the last few days using running AnyDVD and using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Although each of the ripped discs will play on my AOpen DUW1608/ARR burner, none of them will play on my Sony DVP-NS300 DVD player. I get a dirty disc error. The source discs still play fine on this same player. I am burning onto Verbatim 16X DVD+R discs that I bought at Best Buy. The discs say made in Taiwan (which I understand is not good). I burnt the discs at 4X speed from my hard drive. The media compatibility web page does not list this disc for my DVD player.

Can anyone help me out? I want to play these on a stand alone home theatre DVD player. I am going to try another DVD player later today to see if it's my DVD player.

It sounds like you are doing everything right - good media, low burn speeds and good progs.
Did you try another DVD player yet? My only suggestion would be to try a different brand of media though Verbatim's are one of the best.
Here's a link that may help with with reviews and problems on your standalone: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=630&Search=Search&

Thanks for the response. I ended up buying a new DVD player. So far all of my copied discs play. I did have some problems with a couple of the discs (they skipped), but I think that's my fault for trying to multitask while it was ripping/copying.

I also had the persistent PIO error and my computer would not allow me to set it to DMA. I had to enable PIO on the secondary IDE drive in Bios. Now it works like a charm! Thanks!

Glad it worked out. Some older DVD players are fickle with the media they will play. Skips could be due to multi tasking or even a fingerprint. I highly advise not to multi task while backing up DVD's.
