Hi. I have a couple of Xvid movies divided into 2 files about 700mb each per movie. The audio codec is ac3. Ive used DIKO to convert both to svcd format to use in DVD Lab (DIKO creates an elementary audio and video file plus the final svcd file). However, the first half of the movie will produce a 600mb video file and a 100 mb audio file (approx file size--usually mp2 for audio). The second half will produce a similar size video but audio will be only 3-4mb. All the files have the same audio and video properties. If i place the first half svcd or elementary files directly into DVD Lab and compile, the video will play with audio. If i do the same with the second half file of same movie, there is no audio. Any ideas? Thanks.

p.s. DVD Lab 1.3 and tried DIKO 0.77 and 0.78 Beta

I do not know what is DIKO, but I suggest you to try demuxing the audio with VirtualDubMod and fixing it with Besplit. The AC3 format is DVD (and most probably also SVCD) compliant so it doesn't have to be reencoded. You should be able to multiplex it as is.

AC3 is not SVCD compliant.
Audio will have to be transcoded to mp2.
I also, would Demux in virtualdubmod, and transcode in ffmpeggui (it's free).

thanks to all...ill give it a shot....i just found it wierd that its the same movie and SVCD 1 is ok and plays in stand alone dvd player with a simple xvid to SVCD conversion but the second SVCD has problems. both xvids are AC3 48000hz.

It's because someone did a lousy cut. The audio sequence header is missing for part 2, thus the encoder you're using doesn't think there's any audio.
