I have been trying to use DVD Shrink 3.2 with my Mad Dog MegaStor 7-in-1 16x dvd burner and the nero software it came with to burn dvd's but it always fails when the nero is about to start burning. It always gives me an error and it never begins to burn at all. The DVD-R's I have been using are Sony 1x-16x. I want to know if any of your have any suggestions for me. I am new at this so I do not know much about burning DVD's. Please tell me if I should try something other than nero or do any of you know any perticular DVD-R or DVD+R that might work with my burner? Thank You.

the only burner that i have ever had was and still is a mad dog, can't remember what model, it has never ever failed me. this thing is the greatest. if i ever have to buy another one it will be mad dog again. i use Nero to burn always, no problems.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

To rule out your burner as being the problem try free program DVD Decrypter to burn your dvd. It is available at

http://www.filepedia.com

look under rippers.

For a guide on how to use Shrink and Decrypter together go to this site.

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm

Try burning at a lower speed such as 4x, and make sure the firmware on your burner is up to date.

Since you are running an external burner, you may want to check out this thread and see if your problem is related.

I know your gonna think this is crazy but i went thru this exact thing... i always used Nero and for some reason it wouldnt burn and guess what maddog told me.... that the burner will only burn to DVD+R . Not DVD-R. they are trying to make a patch...I didnt believe it but I went and got a 25 pk and it works beautifully now with any burning program and software.

Im young I'll Adjust...I Hope

@MsLoveLee

Your post about MadDog is very interesting.

@LtSerge

Maybe you ought to give MsLoveLee's advice a try, just remember to get some good media such as Verbatim, Maxell, Sony or Fuji.

hi again guys, the media issue is why i give love the maddog burner, i only use cheap media, the cheaper the media is the faster i buy it and i have never, ever have, burner related problem with my copies. why do i only use the cheapest media? because i hardly ever see a movie twice or i got the original.

@elizerroj

Using cheap media may work for you, but it is hardly something to recommend others do. There are enough people who come on this forum who have problems that are related to cheap media, reading your reply is hardly helpful to them, or those of us who have to explain to them that cheap media does cause problems. :~)

yes earniebear, i know you are right; i'm not recommending anyone to buy cheap media, i was just saying it beacuse it is testament on how good the burner is.
