I'm trying to burn a film to dvd. On Nero Express it says my file is too large, what should I do to make the file smaller?

Is there a prgram I can use to make the file smaller? or is there a way around this problem? thank you.

hi

maybe you havent shrunk it to fit a dvdr5 size yet? not sure on your procedure taken as its not mentioned, but DVD Shrink can do this job for you! and also it can burn to useing nero's burn engine, make sure its set in settings of dd shrink...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

No I haven't shrunk it to fit dvdr5 yet.

I actually have DVD Shrink, but I've noticed that when I click on the 'Open Files' button - the movie file doesn't show up when browsing, is there a reason for that? I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2 and an avi movie file. Infact, no movie files show up, just normal files which appear to have nothing in them. (Same result when I click re-author and look through the files through that)

hi redkelly,

If I may ask what format is the file currently in (i.e. mpeg, avi) as I know shrink only recognizes VOB (dvd compliant) files not sure about other formats. I had the same issue awhile back and found if they are in AVI format try using vso divx2dvd then run that project through DVD Shrink. By then your file should be small enough to fit onto a dvd.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

hi

matt72 has you covered! but yes AVI wont go to DVD Shrink, they need to be converted as said above try divxtodvd to get to vob/ifo/bup files which these can be loaded to DVD Shrink and compressed *if needed* hittin backup button!
