Magic Mod Chip Loading Trouble

Alright, so here is the problem. I have a Magic (I believe 5) Mod Chip installed on my playstation 2, and it has worked wonderfully up until a few months ago. Now, it will only load CD-R games, and it takes a few tries to do that. It won't load the DVD-R games for some reason, but it plays DVD movies perfectly and it plays my store-bought games perfectly aswell. At first I thought it was an error in the disc-drive, but I don't think so because it plays the DVDs and CDs... which leads me to believe it is a modchip error... but I don't understand what kind of error would disallow only the play of DVD-R games and retain the CD-R playability. Any help would be VERY GREATLY appreciated, and thank you in advance for any replies. I miss my burned games hah
