My computer originally can with Windows ME (AMD 1200+Mhz processor and 128Mb memory) It has a CD/DVD rom and played ok. I upgraded to XP Home and still everything ran ok. Only changes since is the adding of Windows SP2 package and going broadband. Now when I try to play a DVD the picture and audio stutter, likewise playing CD's.
I've noticed in Task Manager the the CPU jumps to 100% usage and stays there. I've tried the following so far; uninstalled the original version WinDVD and replaced it with an XP compatable version of PowerDVD and increased the memory to 576Mb. Neither has solved the problem.
Any suggestions on what I can try to resovle the problem would be welcome.
