Ok - I ordered from Blankmedia.ca for TY's and it syas on the hub GD000270. Is that good?

Thats usually a good sign, but to be sure run one through DVD Identifier or DVD InfoPro..

I think it is fairly obvious when you might be putting yourself at risk for fakes. When you see excellent media at a ridiculously low price from some off the wall vendor... Prices at reputable dealers are always going to be in the same "ballpark" between them. If in doubt, just ask around on here...

i've received FAKE TYs from shop4tech long time ago, they were competitively priced to others such as supermediastore, meritline, rima~ guess it's just a trial and error at times~ naturally, i will NEVER buy from them again~ lesson learned... :)

I only buy mine from SuperMediaStore. I have been tempted to stray, but the price difference is usually negligible and my peace of mind is more than worth 2 or 3 bucks... It takes me 5 business days to get them, but I guess that just means when I get down to 50 it is time to reorder!!! I am good for now, though... Gotta fresh unopened spindle of 50 8X TY's, around 45 8X Verbs, and an unopened spindle of 25 16X Verbs.... Best Buy for Verbs when they have them on sale..

Yeah I get about 90% of my media from them also.. You may want to look at the Prodisc's they sell there, but make sure they are the 8x White inkjet printable ones because they are manufactured by MCC very good deal on those. Don't get the silver inkjet printable ones though those are CMC MAG!! I try some different disc's once in a while and was very surprised to come across those :-)

Now why didn't I see that Verb sale link before I bought my Ritek G05's today from Meritline? That Ritek media works fairly well in my Plextor 716-A. Dad's Sony drive? Not sure, Have to find out...
Both the Sony & Plextor like the 4x (MCC) yellow top Maxell's & the white top 8x TY's.

How can you tell if the media is fake. doesn't it look the same? What is ty stand for?

You really can't tell if it's fake for sure until you use it. Your best bet is to buy from a reputable dealer. Check out the second link in my signature.
TY stands for the brand name Taiyo Yuden consider by most the best DVD media ever made :-)

the numbers you have listed above are just the sku number for supermediastore...they mean absolutely NOTHING to the avg. consumer, the difference in the -100F to the -100 is the first one is how they delegate FREE SHIPPING, while the second is IDENTICAL media, but without free shipping~ :P
it's just how THEY do their shipping department w/ codes/sku numbers.
if you order TYs, just post the serial on the inner hub up on here, i have a direct contact now with Taiyo Yuden North America (and i'm SURE bbmayo does as well) that i have kept in touch w/ frequently to VERIFY authentic TY media~ i've verified dozens of people's TY media over the last few months, only being incorrect ONCE (on the 16x TY that i was not very familiar with at the time). let us know and i'll be more than happy to help you w/ anything Taiyo Yuden related~ :)
