Ok. I just got DVD Shrink 3.2 and WinRAR 3.40 32 bit.
I want to copy DVDs and
I don't know what to do with these programs (I have no idea what to do).

Will someone please help a rookie, as everyone has to start from my position sometime. Thanks!

first, you don't need WinRAR, get rig off it. you already got shrink good. now get decrypter, it is free. got to software on the top of this page to get it.
decrypter ripps the movies to your hard drive and shrink will compress to fit into a blank disc. there are guides in here to teach you how to do it, it is simple. good luck.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Hi and welcome to AD laughlin7 :-)

Ok first I am not sure what you would need WinRAR for? Anyway here is a guide I made specifically for the rookie in mind http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/backup%20with%20Decrypter&Shrink.pdf

You will need the 2 programs DVD Shrink (which you already have) and DVD Decrypter both are free and you can get them bothe here or at my website. You will also need ADOBE Reader to view the guide you can get that here http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.0/enu/psa20...
It is also free :-) Then you should probably go ahead and print out the guide to make it easier to follow along. Just follow it to the "T" and you will be backing up your DVD's in no time.

If you run into any problems or need help please let us know we are here to help :-)

Also something good that everyone should read is the link in my sig that say newbies you will find some really good info in there and pay particular attention to the DVD media FAQ's..

Good luck

Welcome to AD!!
Here is a thread that is extremely helpfully for people starting out. It helps with what media to buy, guides on how to do backup dvd's, copy protection etc.
WinRAR: for a good explanation click on the hyperlink.

Edit: forgot to post the link but BBmayo's the man to help and has already listed the links.
