A while back one of my friends gave me a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. However, it is a copy and it is burned to a Memorex 700MB CD-R. And it plays perfectly on my Dreamcast, no mod chips or anything.
And as much as I want to contact my friend and ask him how he did it, he moved a long time ago. Apparently the entire game was small enough to fit on the CD (it's only 680 megs large), but what I want to know is:

1. Assuming that someone else rips a Dreamcast game off the original GD-ROM for you and sends you the files, in order to burn the files to a CD in a way that the Dreamcast reads it no problem, is all you need a CD burner and the right programs?

2. How did [whoever actually ripped the game] do it? What kind of hardware did they use?

3. How can I get a hold of hardware capable of reading GDRs?
