Hey, I am ordering a ps2 from ebgames because I have an online gift certificate but should I be concerned about getting a bad version?

I would like to eventually use swap magic or a mod chip and I dont know whats compatible and whats not.

Any opinions are welcome. Thanx


Edit: Was reading the FAQ and I see some PS2's dont read DVD-R. Which versions should I look out for, you can check the site im ordering from and tell me what looks good and doesnt but it looks like I will be rolling the dice if I buy preowned, can you tell if the new ones they are selling are good?

As far as i know all ps2's read dvd-r it's dvd+r some have problems with but thats only ps2 consoles under version 6 i think.

when you get the ps2 it has a number on the back with scph and then some numbers my said 39002 and i think mine was bought about the year 2001 christmas so im getting a chip put in it so if your ps2 has has a similar number it could be about a version 3,4 or 5 but if it the number is higher it could be 6,7 or 8 and then nine which is a slim ps2 is yours a slim the one you are getting?

Yes, after taking a closer look at the inventory from the place im ordering it from it looks like I will be getting a slim PS2.

With the slim PS2, at least they are less than a year old.
