Ok so I'm using TMPEG DVD Author, which works great btw!! I've been using a standard NTSC template for my tv which is non-wide screen, 4:3 I assume then. So my prob is that everything is super enlarged and stretched across the tv. It cuts off subtitles that were already made onto the files so I can't fix that, and other things. But how can I get it to display in the proper resolution so things aren't cut off? Can I try making it widescreen and still run it on a standard tv? Thanks!

I have a similar problem. I'm using WinAvi to convert 4:3 Xvid files. When I play the disc in my DVD player the subtitles are cut-off, but they display fine on my PC. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

Which program are you using for authoring?

I use DVDLab Pro which has like a dotted box showing the space that will appear on a normal 4:3 TV set. Everything outside that dotted box will not show up on TV.

In general it's a good idea to burn first your projects on a DVDRW and test them on your standalone player...

I logged in on March 1st 2005, and it's incredible to believe that in so short time I've learnt all that I know about DVDs from this forum...

Hi, I'm using TMPEG Encoder and DVD Author. I feel a bit embarassed. My answer was found in this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/207513
I've also been trying DVD Lab Pro. I like both but TMPEG has a slightly simpler layout to me, anyways. Anyways, hopefully this helps! I have to reencode all my files (48+!!) and reburn all new dvds now. Geesh

I am having this same problem and use winavi. Do I need to use subrip or VobSub, can I even adjust them?? ?? I read the instructions on how to do this on your guides but wasn't sure if this was it. Any help is appreciated.
