Hi, on a cd-r 700mb, is it possible to burn an avi file and overburn by about 7mb (or into the red a bit) and still have the file work?
Thanks

Hi gattstzu, welcome to aD,

When the dye is applied to a disc, either a CD OR a DVD, many times, toward the edge the dye is uneven OR even missing which means ~ Either the movie will not fit (giving you a "coaster") OR, if the dye was applied correctly to the edge, chances are, you will get freezing, sturtting OR skipping, if you are "lucky".

One thing about CD's is that you can choose to overburn them, whether it will work or not, it depends upon how lucky you are that day. CD's are cheap so it won't hurt when you get a disc like the one desciribed above or a coster.

OR

You could, trim that steak, removing little pieces and "shrinking" that steak to the point where it could fit. It wouldn't be totally complete BUT it would fit. There are always scenes that could be editted out, not really necessary to the movie as a whole. :)

It is always better to burn a slightly smaller file to a disc than to burn right to the outer edges. Also look into the memory of your CD to sea if it may be playable within the next 2 years.

A forum which works more with that sort of thing might be this one ~
