Hi guys sorry if this has been asked before. When using Shrink the movie starts to freeze towards the end. This has happened on a Pioneer and Panasonic DVD players using Sony 4.7 GB DVD+R 120 min 1x-8x Compatible. My burner is a Liteon 16xDVD+-R/+-RW Drive. Double Layer.

In Preferences my setting are as followed.
Screen 1 - Custom 4300MB and middle box ticked.
Screen 2 - Box ticked and Stereo and System Default Renderer.
Screen 3 - Top 4 boxes ticked.
Screen 4 - All languages and AC3 or LPCM.
Screen 5 - In File settings, top and bottom box ticked and burning with nero ticked.

I open disc and let it analyse. Then I Re-author clicking Main Movie. I then do the compression settings getting rid of any un-needed languages. Then hit Back-Up.

Settings here are as followed.
DVD Region - Region Free.
Quality Settings - No boxes ticked.
Options - Play sound when complete.
Burn Settings - Burn Speed 1.0x (1,385 kb/s).

I hit OK and it encodes the DVD. The disc when finished will eject and a blank disc is inserted. It then reads this and says buring at 6x (8,310 kb/s).

Why does it burn at this speed and not a slower one? Could this be the reason why the movies are freezing?

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
John C.

it could be a reason, but I think that if it were the reason it would do this throughout the whole movie and not just the end. But try to reduce the speed to 4x and give it a shot. You may have to choose to put the files into a hard disc folder (select this after you hit backup in place of your burner drive). Then you can open Nero or whatever program it's burning with and get everything that's in the Video_TS folder and choose 4x or less for burn speed.

I think the real reason is the discs you are using. Sub-par media will result in problems like this. I'd suggest Verbatum with the Super AZO Dye or Taiyo Yuden discs if you purchase online.

But if you still have more Sony discs it's worth a shot reducing the burn speed.

This may sound like a dumb question, but how do I change the burn speed? I have it set to 1x in Burn Speed as mentioned in first post. Also does burning with DVD Decryptor make any difference.
Thanks
John.

i must've missed that 1x burn speed part, im tired. But if you have that selected and it's still burning at 6x, that's the lowest speed your burner and media have in common.

I suggested Decrypter just to rule out Nero causing the problem, but I believe it's the discs now. Go with some Verbatum or Taiyo Yuden. Those should have you going good.
