Using DVD2SVCD, I backed up a movie onto the above disk (burned at 4x in Nero). It plays perfectly in PowerDVD and Windows Media Player, but not on my standalone DVD player (which says it is S/VCD compatible). The way it comes up on the TV is all blocks, pink and green squares changing all the time with very jumpy and bitty Audio. Is this caused by the CD media or can anyone think of any other cause.

Thank You

Alex

It's the media. Try some blue (cyanine) media, in particular Princo, Postech, Vivastar or Gigastorage.

Try using Tempgenc to encode to mpeg2(takes a couple of hours depending on your CPU). Using any fast encoding programs will result in bad video play back.

EF9,

He said that it is OK on the PC, so it's not an encoder issue.

Decrease write speed, obtain high quality media. Some people insist that cyanine (blueish) media is better but I don't really know - I have a Philips 952 and it plays anything.

DVD/SVCD forums have talk about these issues

yeah, i'd suggest using the light blue media, cuz i got a toshiba dvd player, and it supports vcd, but doesn't support cd-r. using any other colour, it won't play, but blue works.
