ScubaPete was telling me about TDK's new "hard surface" disc. It is supposed to be almost scratch proof. I like Verbs so it is cool to see them coming out with a similar coating.

Just the thing for making DVDs for the kids to use.

Anyone seen the prices yet?

It sure is looking sweet. Damn, I really want them, but I'll wait a lil bit til it hits the "sales tag", then I'll pick them up for sure. As of now, I still got tons of Fuji/TY and Maxell to do the job for me.

@Ihoe,

So please give us some feedback on that package you bought at BB alright. BB is located like 5 mins from my house, I can grab them anytime I feel like. So... yeah let me know how's the new product going for you.

well....... only time will tell if the VideoGuard is worth the price~ but I think Verbatim did put extra into these disks than their usual disks! And, believe me their usual disks are great! MCC ID code is worth it! The price for 10 VideoGuard Verbatim disk was $13.99 ....... $1.40 a disk....over three times the price than regular disks...... and these come in a video slim case.... outstanding. You can tell that these disks are really good! it even feels good in your hands! hahahaha if that can possibly be!

i personally feel that a disc CAN feel good in your hands, based on how it's manufactured, i get your point~ :) some discs are "flimsy" while other high quality discs DO have a heavier, more solid feel to them~ well, best of luck on those videoguard verbs~ have a good one~

thanks...... and you know exactly what I mean! wow! the texture of the disk is quality.... you can actually feel the dif! As I said before I think these, too, shall go down in price when the Blue-Rays and HD-DVD come out next year....... that is if they still manufacture them! I hope they do! I'll buy them! I think they are worth it!

(creaky salivates at the thought of better Verb's), but then wakes up and ponders what the cost of them will be when they get to ripoff Britain :)

To All The afterdawn.com gang - Et.al - My friends I knew nothing of the new verbs until I checked your post and like the rest of you I think I will wait for the price to drop before investing in large quantity 's of the new verbs but may buy a pack to try ! now if only Fuji/taiyo yuden would make them (japan fuji's or straight up Taiyo Yudens ! But hey I can live with the verbatims ! I understand that - movie DVD's are stamped like records or cd's but the studios should come up with a system like this so if you rented a movie it isn't scratched up like a cat's scratching post after the first week! Anyways glad to hear about this ! my nearest BB is 30 miles away by Interstate but it's right of I-10 so it's a straight shot ! will definitely check these verbs out ! thanx again to all my friends - PEACE & HAPPY BURNING!

I didn't notice if they come in -Rs....... so far as I know I only seen them in the DVD+R format. and Verbatim makes the DLs too! but not with the VideoGuard! and they are 8X DVD+R DL, which cost like 24.99 for a 3 pack! at Best Buy, Circut City, CompUSA and even online at supermediastore.com!

it may be the media of choice, but according to this list:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Maxell is best, then comes Taiyo Yuden then Verbatim (the ones made in Japan)! Even the VideoGuard disks are still MCC, which is below TYs and also below Maxell! Even Sony is made by TY now! I have a spindle of 50 that is YUDEN000T02!

That may be true Idon't think I have used maxell media in the dvd formats ! And many afterdawn members are much more knowledgeable on many subjects than I am including media ! But I have used verbatims && Taiyo yudens/Fuji -japan only and I find them excellent enough for my taste . Thought taste is like opinions & bellybuttons - everybodies got them and everybodies different1! I respect my afterdawns friends knowledge base enough to keep a open mind ! so chin up ! & burn baby burn Peace!
