Hi.

I am in the process of transferring my Betamax tapes to DVD and am using the Canopus ADVC-300 to do the transfer, per the suggestions of the wonderful and knowledgeable folks found in this forum.

Are the any default settings on the box itself that I should change?

Also, how does one know if the volume is set correctly when capturing the file(i.e. is volume set too low and needs to be adjusted? Is it possible to increase the volume on the 300 box?) before burning to DVD? I can hear the audio but I don't know if this is the correct volume when I get ready to burn. I don't want to create the DVD and find out that the volume is too low.

Thanks so much for your help.

You should be able to use the Default settings and after Captureing if you notice that the Audio is too low or to high then you can adjust it while encodeing the File to Mpeg-2 for DVD as many encoders have settings for adjusting the audio like TMPGEnc does....

I personally use a totally seperate program for Processing my audio so I can adjust the Volume and Normalize it and add any filters ect to get it to sound the way I want and after I have it set up the way i want I render my audio as a Dolby Digital AC3 file which is the best Format to use on DVD"s but not many program support encodeing to this Format....
The Program i use to process my audio and Encode it to dolby digital is "Sony Vegas Video 6" which is also a Great DV AVI capture and Editing/Effects and encodeing program and it a great program to use with the ADVC-300.....
