OK,
I have a chipped PS2. It is one of the earlier models 2003ish. I am worried about it running DVD9!!! I bought GT4 and it wouldn't work, I have a backup of GT4 it doesn't work.

Firstly is there anyway I can get this game to work, without buying a new PS2?

Secondly, I presume God of War won't work cos of this. Can someone also tell me what other DVD9 games there are?

Thank you

There are so many problems with GT4 backups, "run this patch" "glitches" etc..... all down to GT4 been dual layered.

I know it's a pain, but if you want to put your hand n your pocket and play a game without any problems, click here:

Maybe it's time to get a newer chip ? i've got an old one in my pal PS2, and it has trouble reading a lot of stuff... My ntsc PS2 was recently fit with a new chip, and it plays practically everything (i haven't tried any dvd9 games yet though...)

OK,
I am happy to people have answered me but no one has really informed me on the 2 issue's I have?

Will my PS2 have issue's with all DVD9's? Original or Back Up's?

Will DVD9 movies work even if games don't?

Will God of War work if I buy it?

How much/Is it worth getting an old PS2 re modded? How do I find out what mod I have in my machine?

Thanks

It could help if next time, you just state those questions up front, that makes things a bit easier on both ends ;)

1. If there's a way to turn off your mod chip, (I THINK) your ps2 should be able to read original dvd 9's
2. Dvd 9 movies should be playable anyhow, but you could just try that one out by renting or lending a dvd 9 from someone/somewhere
3.Seeing as gt4 won't work now, i don't think god of war will work on your ps2 now
4. Since mod chips and modding services can be found really cheap on the net, i'd say re-modding it is definitely worth a shot, and if you want to know what chip you have, either go to the person who modded your ps2 and ask them, or go ahead and get some info from a mod service, and have them take a look at it. The shop where i recently had the new chip for my ntsc ps2 put in checked it for me, and replaced it for a new chip for ?40 (which is around $30-35 i think), and they also gave me a few backups with it.
