I don't let any kinds of generic media near my burner period. Hahahas...lol:) - the only medias that gets to see my dvd burner is genuine TY/FUJI 8X DVD+R and SONY 8X DVD+R, and another top notch media is MAXELL 8X DVD+R (Made In Japan). However, the choice is yours to make. Seriously though, I wouldn't lay my hands on generic products.

How about the Maxell dash MXLR G03 8x. What are your feelings about them. They are also Made in Japan.

yes ! but the important question has anyone actaually used these generic verbatims available from NEWEGG.COM ? and if so what was the outcome & or opinion of them ? Perhaps they will be the next Taiyo Yuden 4x's in that they are name brand media @ a reasonable price ! come on people inquiring minds want to know ? PS#1 I emailed verbatim about their Generic vs. their branded media and am awating their reply ! will report what they said then! peace & happy burning!

@ALAND,

Honestly, I prefer the Maxell 8X DVD+R (Made In Japan), code: MAXELL-002-00 instead of the -R because I can booktype the settings to dvd-rom, which that is perfectly for one of my older (all region Shinco) stand alone dvd player. However, if the 8X DVD-R is also stamped "MIJ" with id code: MXLR G03, then this is also pretty good. You can't go wrong with any of the Fuji/TY, Maxell and SONY that's manufactured from Japan.

On the Generic Verbatim DVD_R issue I emailed verbatim techsupport and this was their reply as to their Generic Vs. their retail media "
It is a cosmetic difference, all Verbatim DVD media uses Azo recording
dye
and will have the MCC ID code. So perhaps I may try some while they are still on sale! anyway though you all would like to know! peace & happy burning!
