I've converted several dvds at 720:480 to xvid and am storing them on a mac mini, which is to be used as a home media center. I have several programs- mplayer osx, vlc, and macvcd x. I'm using dvi to connect to a 57s500 hitachi 16:9 hidef tv.(57") It seemed when I set monitor res to 720:480, the playback was better than at higher resolutions. First, is there any advantage to setting the monitor res higher if the video is only 720x480, and second, which xvid player gives the best performance for mac. Thanks
