I'm looking for a good quality CD-R that will last to store my digital photos on. I bought some TDK 's The package say Photo Storage for Digital Archiving. That just seems to be a marketing gimmick to me. Here is the ATIP data

ATIP: 97m 31s 07f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 656.69MB (74m 45s 01f / LBA: 336226)

Any one know anything about these disks.

A guy at my local computer store said the Memorex Blacks were really good. Any comments?

I live in the US and my burner is a Plextor 8/4/32A.

Thanks

I'd stick w/ Ritek or Taiyo Yuden if I wanted to save data for a really long time. Hell, my first Jpop cd was by Ritek and I burnt it 3 years ago. Used it almost everday and still going strong.

I use imation and keep loose cds in my school bag ...I forgot about it and with all kinds of scratches (couldn't see no reflection) it worked strong and I use a program to make a VCD slide show that plays on DVD and played on there no problem

asking question never hurt

Imation is usually made by CMC Magnetics, which is not among the recommended - your mileage may vary though.

I'd recommend Ritek, Taiyo and Prodisc. None of them have ever failed me.

I'd go along with what Chris said. In my experience the discs that seem to be good and currently available (in order of preference)...

Mitsui
TY
Kodak
Mitsubishi
Ritek
Nan-Ya (these discs are excellent value for money IMHO, but rare)
Prodisc
MBI

I'm not keen on CMC.
