Swap Magic/Flip Top Issues

I have a V.3 ps2 (bigger one, not the slim) and I recently installed my flip top, which i have once before done successfully, and I'm having a few issues. First, I can't get the Swap Magic DVD disc to load up more than 1/8 the times i try. Everytime it just loads the Playstation 2 screen and then just sits there and it sounds like the disc will spin for a second then stop... then try again then stop. Second, Once i actually get the DVD disc to work and I do the swap, the Games will look like they're loading because the screen goes black after the Swap Magic screen, but then it'll go back to the PS2 Browser thing and then the red screen comes up saying that I need to insert a VALID Ps2 disc... I've tried using the CD swap magic disc by means of refreshing the TOC with a bigger disc.. but I still get the screen that says insert a valid ps2 disc. ANY suggestions?? I would just get a Slim one but I want the big one for the Hard drive capabilities.

I think maybe you need to clean the laser, you can find a ps2 repair guide at www.exploitstation.com and as far as I know swapmagic 3.3 works better with older ps2s... but I could be wrong. Anyway I was having read errors, and I just cleaned my laser and it reads discs in seconds. So I suggest trying that.,
