My Cd player is a pain, it pleases itself when it wants to read CD'S and when it wants to burn, anyone any ideas on how to fix the thing? I run windows XP, burn using nero and the CD type is an A open CD-RW CRW4850. i hope someone has an idea?

Have you tried different media? Sometimes thats the problem. Have you updated the firmware for the cd burner? Tried a slower speed for burning? Could the laser be dirty, have you tried cleaning it?
