I installed a DMS4Pro on a V10 board (from a SCPH-50001 NTSC U/C) and everything was running great. Tested dozens of backups error free, no drive errors, no BoD or RoD at all.
However I read all these posts about lasers burning out on V10s, so I figured I better put on the Romeo fix..... Which I did and now the system won?t read any discs at all :(
What happens is, it boots up like normal, but when I put in a DVD the motor makes a louder then normal noise, the laser flashes briefly (but the head doesn?t move) and the disc doesn't spin up; sometimes it spins a little, but not enough to actually boot up a game. It?s almost like it?s trying to spin, but doesn?t have enough power?
I also tested the point, and it is in fact getting +5.15v...
I just don't understand, it's like the chip is fried, but I can't see how, checked so many times for a short before closing it up. Plus I was only on the leg for a short time with the iron too. I just don't see how I could have killed the chip :(
Could someone else please give me some feed back here. I'm totally new to the romeo fix and now I'm terrified to ever try it again.
This is not much going to HELP you much but maybe you could help me...I ordered a DMS4 E.Z.I. Pro and the installtion does not look too hard I can handle it. But once the chip is installed what are my 1st steps from there... I heard that I have to FLASH the BIOS I am just a little unsure how too do all of this soo if you could help me that would be great
