I recently purchased the AverTV USB2.0 Plus from Avermedia and am having difficulty getting it to work. The drivers and software both installed fully but when I open the software with the device plugged in, my computer freezes. At this stage ctrl+alt+del does not work and I have to turn the computer off manually.

I have tried opening the software without the device plugged in and it does start up without crashing. However it does not then allow the use of the device when I subsequently plug it in.

My attempt to use the device with different software has also yielded the same results.

I have downloaded the updated drivers and software from Avermedia but the problem persists.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Cheers

Contact Avermedia support. You paid for it, you should expect loads of help.
I suspect it may be a USB issue, and not anything wrong with your device.
Make sure that USB 2.0 is enabled in BIOS, and you have the latest USB 2.0 drivers for your motherboard's usb ports.

My computer is nearly two years old but does meet the specs for the device.

I am now beginning to suspect it is a USB issue as I have managed to solve the freezing problem by updating the drivers. However, now when I plug in the device a message comes up saying that I have plugged a hi-speed device into a slow port. My USB ports are supposed to be USB2.0 though.

As I said above, check BIOS and make sure USB 2.0 is enabled. Also make sure an IRQ is assigned for USB.
Update USB 2.0 drivers from your motherboard disk, or the manufacturer's website.
