Hi
I have one of these installed on a version 7 ps2 and it boots every game without a problem ( i havent tried d/l games yet) but you can get the toxic patcher for them here http://www.modchipsireland.com/smf/index.php?topic=9.0
I dont think they are any easier/ harder to install than any other chip. As for a site to buy from where do you live?

It's a decent chip that will play backups and import, but some games may take a while to load. From what i have heard it is reliable. As far as installation i belive its 17 wires to solder, if you are not good at it get swap magic.

if you are going to install it yourself you may as well get a better chip. The wires count is VERY similar!

If you are getting someone to install it then just get hat chip. I have it now and I can play anything I throw at it. I have games and apps running on my PS2 with NO problems, and people with magic 3 (and other versions) have all sorts of problems with the file structure. (some may not)

But its the cheapest chip you can get that direct boots ANYTHING. If thats all you want, then thats perfect!!

I went through my local buy and sell paper and found an ad for guys that sell and install them. I paid $75 CND for the chip plus the install. It was the cheapest chip I could get with direct boot everything.

Before that I had installed my own chip. It was only 3 wires though. And it only direct booted PS1 games, and you had to use game shark and swap in other disks. I used that for the last 3 years.

Well....if you have a Duo 2 se you'll be able to turn the chip off. It has an On and off function. Read some other posts for directions on how to do this. I believe youi hold the reset button in for 5 sec then boot. That should do it. If not...read some other posts its on here some where. If not just ask. Everyone on here helps everyone else. Great site and so far there are some good guys/gals on the site. Most Forums have atleast one A-Hole. :-) haha But not this one...so far :-) Hope this helps..and good luck!

The website that I went to sells these, and it says they are "DVD-9 ready", so double-layer DVDs should work. I'm also looking to buy one of these badboys, cheap chip, but based on many reviews by users, is very good.

Hey guys I recently just bought the new Slim PS 2. And I just learned about the mod chips available for them, does anyone know what is a good chip to play burned games for the Slip PS 2? And does it affect the life of the PS 2? I live near chicago so is there anywhere particular that anyone recommends getting it from?
