What do you actually need to play backup games on your PS2 without any probelms, and which writing speed should you use?

Mod chip or swap magic...DVD Decrypter, Nero....burn at 4x or slower...use good media.

Honestly, if you're thinking about going with the "swap magic 3.6 plus" route, then I highly recommend the "flip top" instead of the "slide card". However, the choice is yours to make.
