Hi TheHermit,
The question is more, does it play on your PC ?
The chances are excellent that even if you did everything correctly, by using crappy media, burning at too fast a rate OR burning to the outer edges of your disc where the dye may be uneven OR even absent, you wouldn't be able to play it on a standalone.
So, if the answer is, "Yes,.it plays fine on my PC". Then you'll need to pay closer attention to what you're burning it too.
You'll want to use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs, burning at no faster than at 4X (faster burnin may well cause writing errors) and controlling the DVD Target size to 4360MB so the files aren't burned to the outer edge of the disc.
If the answer is, "No, I cannot play the VIDEO_TS folder on my PC." Then well have to go over our steps, one at a time to sea where our problem lies.
We'll be waiting on your answer.
Pete

You obviously didn't read all of my post.
I'll try too write slow so you can keep up . . . . Lol (he, he)
Your standalone player is older and not programmed to see 8X, 12X, 16X OR 7,024X-
So you go out and buy 8X and wonder why it doesn't work ?
Am I missing something ?
Go buy what you wish - I already told you it wouldn't work. I have no idea what you want BUT it doesn't appear to be help . . . .
I have an idea, try buying 16X again maybe this time . . . . . . it won't play yet again :D)
I gave my advice, you'll still do what you want -
Enjoy your own company -
Sea Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,
Pete

@TheHermit,
My only suggestion is..."don't/never" burn at 16X or 8X, if your stand alone dvd player is 2 yrs or older. However, you can change the "booktype" setting into a DVD-ROM format if you use DVD Decrypter or Nero to do your back up process; this will make it easier on your [any older models] dvd player.

Hey alkohol,
Some smart-mouth began calling me a girl in another thread to start trouble and I thought I straightened him out in a PM. If you hear it still coming from someone else, let me know. UNLESS you know a ton of girls named "Pete". At 6'3 1/2", 260 lbs with iron gray hair and a pony tail (the closest anyone would ever get to thinking I'm a her), a "her" isn't remotely close :D)
Thanks Buddy,
@TheHermit -

The rules governing this forum are there for you to read BUT it would appear that you didn't read them or else you wouldn't have made this stupid post.
Rules: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487
The PM feature is for those things that cannot or should not be posted in forums.
This is your post to me:

I used verbatim 8x dvd+r and it still don't work on my standalone dvd..
It does work fine on my pc . But my standalone says bad disc..Even the Ridata 16x dvd+r work on my pc but not in my standalone dvd player . it is a General Electric DGE108N
LQQks like it should be posted in a forum to me ~ Now let's all QQk at my answer to see how poorly you were treated:

This is a question that should be asked in forum not in a PM.
A PM is for things that for some reason or another cannot be asked in a forum.
As for your question, I cannot find your standalone DVD player listed in a compatibility site.
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php
If your player is over a year old, you cannot expect it to be able to play a newer disc media developed and released after it's manufacturing date. Verbatim 8X and RiData 16X are fairly new discs and since there is no way to do a firmware update on a standalone player as there is with a burner OR a DVD ROM we cannot teach a standalone player to recognize a newer media. If your player is over 2 years old, it may not even play a +R media.
I suggest you try a RiData 4X, -R media OR a Verbatim 4X, -R media. These types of discs have been around for few years and an older player can probably see them just fine.
Cheers,
Pete
I thought the interesting part was that I was helping you in forum and STILL you wanted to hold a PM with me on the same topic ?
Yep, it's there for all to see, I really mistreated you, didn't I ~

So you thought I deserved those remarks you just made ? I still didn't see the part about me making you waste your money BUT I'm sure it's there somewhere ~
I feel sorry for you ~ so many pple out to get you ~
BTW, See my post to alkohol, that's what we use PM's for ~ then again, after you read rule # 11. you'll know that, ~ just in case there's ever a test, Lol
