dRD does explain at the end of the sig test thread why it was closed.
it works quite well, but you can't see the effect of your new sig until you post. which is a shame because it is'nt as affective as the very popular thread it replaces if that was the intention. unless i'm reading it wrong:)

My guess on why it was closed was due to all users posting/testing their sigs many times (and I mean MANY x's). It looked like an attempt to increase their post count to a higher status level. Maybe someday they will figure out it's not the quantity but the quality that really count.
