For a standad PS2 (v1-V11) can you replace the DVD-Rom driver with a better one? and for a slimline (V12 and the one i currently own) can you add a DVD-Rom driver, i mean can you hook one up to a slimline ps2? This might be a stupid question, but im very curious.

You just mean the DVD drive right? Yes, you can replace the drive, but you must get the correct one for your ps2 version.

yeah, i don't think any driver updates were ever introduced. i'm not quite clear on this one...i'm thinking this could be a case of mistaken ideas/terminology.

no i mean replace it with like another sony dvd-rom drive....like the xbox can. so if it can, can you add it to a PS2 V12? i mean can you hook a drive up to the usb drive or n e thing?
