I've been using DVD Shrink to copy my DVDs, but whenever I do that, I can only copy the movie itself (if I'm going to maintain 100% compression). How can I rip a dvd with the menus and everything AND not lose all the quality in doing so?

not trying to step on any toes but that seems like a lot of encoding using both programs
I could suggest two things
try dvd-rb a little more complicated but far superior program.
nearly flawless compression. look in the one-click prog forum there is volumes there written on it and a very good guidewritten by vurbal and I've even seen the author over there answering questions
second 1:1 copies cough up the big bucks for the dvd9's dual layer media about 2or 3 bucks a disk but no compression means no loss of quality

As l8nights states if you do not want any compression then use dual layer disks, cheapest is 4.00 a disk. Or you can always split to two disks.
@borhan9
You do not need to use Shrink if you are using CloneDVD. Clone does the same thing as Shrink it encodes and compresses. You are correct if you want to re-author CloneDVD has more options than Shrink, especially if you want to split a disk and keep menus on both.

@arniebear
I suggested the 2 programs because ussually the DVD's people ripp are DVD-9's soo because of that the combp i personally use is DVD Decrypter to ripp to hard drive then i use shrink to compress it and then i use Clone to burn/ripp to blank disc...
Unless u can teach me or direct me where i can learn to compress with Clone DVD 1 or 2 ??
thanxs
I like the program because as u said it gives u a lot of options ;)

If you are running AnyDVD just put your disk in and open up CloneDVD (the slysoft program) and pick copy DVD titles for main movie and whatever else you want to include, or Clone DVD if you want the entire DVD. Then go to the next screen choose your movie and burn, Clone will do the rest. If you are using Decrypter then just choose the option of Write Existing Data, and open up the file on your hard drive.

The only way you can make a backup and have no compression is to backup to a dual layer disc.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably just keep doing it the way I do now.

if you're just worried about preserving menus and don't care about extras you can change all the extras to still images in Shrink and that way you'll still have a functional menu (well sort of).

I'm trying to rip a dvd that's in Spanish. Normally while watching a film, you can turn the subtitles on via the remote. However, this dvd makes you go into the section "Subtitles" from the main menu and then hit play. How can I rip this and keep the subtitles option? The whole dvd was well under the 100% compression mark in DVD Shrink, and I don't know about CloneDVD. I downloaded it once and it messed up my computer.

I'm not sure of any programs to allow you to force subtitles. And I've never heard of CloneDVD 2 messing up anyone's computer. Unless you got CloneDVD3, which is fake crapola.
