I'm about half way through God of War (for any of you who have finished it, I'm just outside Pandora's temple where the long Bridge is).
And I've burnt the game on a DVD+R DL Verbatim DVD Disk using Nero Express 6.
The game has worked perfectly up to this point.
When I cross this particular bridge, a 'loading' sign appears and it just stays there forever. I don't think that it froze because the 'Loading' sign is still moving.
And there is also a save point where I am now, when I attempt to save the game there, there is a black screen with the God of War symbol in the background, slightly changing colour. And it just stays there forever.
Has anyone had this problem or knows what may have happened, can you please tell me what to do? May it have something to do that I've got the old, bulky PS2 or the fact that it is on a Dual Layer DVD?
i'm no export in PS2 game copying, however for starters download dvdinfopro (free from www.dvdinfopro.com) and run that disc thru it's CRC check, it will tell you if you have any corruption on the disc..
Did you by any chance followed this guide/tutorials here with the Sonix's patch/kit and rebuild method? Go here and read that long thread, here it is: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/174869 -- out of curiosity, how fast were your burned copy? Ther majority of PS2 members recommendation speed is 4X max (I did all mine with 4X and 8X 50%-50%). Keep in mind that Games are totally different from dvd movies, and technically, the all loading, reading, restarting, saving, and bootig, you name it, etc. you know what I mean?
Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to mess with GOW yet, but will soon and I'm sure I'll follow that guide as well. Looks like the majority can back it up and or rebuilt it into a single DVD5 disc already. If you're seeking an DVD9(DL) back up, then I think you definitely need the patch, then burn it with DVD Decrypter or Nero (I prefer more due to DVD-ROM compatible). I may be wrong, so please someone educate me, I'm willing to listen. On the other hand, GT4 is also a DVD9 disc and it required the "patch" for PS2 to read the DL back up copied.
