I've just learned how to put subs on a DivX/Xvid movie using TMPGEnc, VobSub and FFdshow from the following guide:

http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php

Everything seemed to run smoothly, and the subs appear when the encoding is done, unfortunately there's no sound on the output DivX file.
I do exactly as the guide says, I save in avi as output format. Choose the DivX 5.x codec and as audio output I choose Mpeg-1 layer3.

Why is the sound missing?

Please help!

Okay I'm really feelin' kind of stupid now. I thaught TMPGEnc just used the audio from the movie, but now I realize, it needs an audio input file. DOH!
Any good tools to extract/rip the audio from the movie to MP3 audio for example?
Or is there a way to "direct stream copy" with TMPGEnc?
I want to stick with TMPGEnc, cause it's a lot more simple than VirtualDub.

Well since no one have offered their help I've done some research. And I found out that TMPGEnc have problems dealing with MP3 as audio source, but I don't know if it's possible to copy the audio from the same AVI file (the file I'm working with have VBR which TMPGEnc doesn't support.

So now I'm down to this, I want to add .srt files to DivX, so I use VirtualDub or NanDub with VobSub's support for .srt and other text files.

The way I encoded the file I'm working with, It suffered a little from poor quality, but it's not so much.

Gonna find out my own way how to put subs on a movie, with the smallest loss of quality if any.

Take care...
