Hey Everyone....


I'm not sure if this is correct, but I once read (or maybe heard) somewhere that if you have a version 1 PS2 its possible to play Japanese imports (not burned ones, official releases) without having a mod chip, or anything of the like. The reason I'm interested in finding out is because I want to purchase 'Rez' for my PS2, and the JAP version of the game (I've been finding at least) is alot cheaper than the english version. I did some searching on google, and read the faq here to no avail. Anyone know if this is true, or could someone point me in the direction of some information that could help me???

I think that's true simply because PS2 V1/2 (NTSC-J) were sold on japanese marketing, so ofcourse they will read original JAP releases without modchips - but not anything else. Problem is that there's also US V1/2's (NTSC-U) so you must be sure what you're buying. There's also some japan specific models like T1, 10000 and 15000 but I can't tell anything about them. European model numbers start from V3, earlier models haven't shipped in that part of world except import ones.
