i'm tired of my games freezing and the stupid errors. I believe i have the Playstation SCPH-3001 version 4. What Mod chips would you recommend and i am playing on buying a Maxtor 200 gb hd. I found a version of the HD loader on bit comet but should i buy the actual disc? which one? and what mod chips is the best? I think i might need a flip cover also. I also heard about the USB thingy. Help please.

Do you have Swap Magic? There's no need to buy hda or hdl if you do as you could make a exploit. USB Extreme is sloowww, as for modchips am sorry i do not know.

if you are good at soldering get a modchip.
good modchips
1.Infinity Matrix
2.dms4 pro
3.magic 3.1+d9 (some people disagree on that one) improved code
4.duo 2 se
if you are not good at soldering. get swap magic. much easier to install, but you have to swap disks each time you play a game. also install flip top cover. lastes version 3.6

depending on what modchip you get (i have the magic 3.1+ and it works good except you can't play dual layer backups) the site where you get it should tell you how to turn on and off the modchip.
if you are comfortable soldering, i would definitely suggest a mod over boot disks.

hold reset for 4-5 seconds.

yeah, on mine you have to hold reset for 4-5 secs. i guess that is with all chips.
however, to play a backup, you want the chip on. and for originals and dvd movies you can turn the chip off.

well on some some chips, after you insert a homebrew game and it loads, it shuts off by itself.

I just bought a SCPH-30001 PS2... which I believe is version 4 too. I have tried to put the flip top case from swap disc on it, but there is a giant piece of plastic where the serial number goes near the expanision port of my PS2... Im thinking about solving my problems and sawing it off, heating the plastic and melting it to form fit, but I just want to make sure I am using the thing right first XD. Anyone got any ideas?
